Sounds dreamy, doesn’t it?
Escape to somewhere beautiful – a country guesthouse, a cool city hotel, a tropical island, a Tuscan farmhouse or an outback hut. Arrange a few books
on a windowsill, make a cuppa, change into comfy clothes,
breathe, and write.
And it is dreamy.
It’s also intense work.
There are lots of different ways to retreat. I’ve enjoyed many approaches over
the years, in both informal retreats by myself or with friends, at structured retreats led by amazing writers, and on awarded writing residencies and fellowships.
And now, I organise and host my own residential programs and masterclasses.
So I’ve gathered what I know into a free guide for writers who want to organise a retreat for themselves or with a few friends, or apply for a fellowship, or find an author-led retreat with masterclasses and planned activities.
You can download it here.
The guide covers:
- What happens on writing retreats?
- Finding your space
- Planning your creative days
- Writing in community
- Practical matters
- Come write with us.
There are checklists and resources to help you decide: What sort of retreat do you need and want now, or in the future?
I hope you find it useful.
